Keeping the love alive in your business

Most entrepreneurs start their business without realising they are also starting one of the most significant relationships of their life.

For many soul-led business owners, healers and coaches, starting a business also enacts a serious spiritual awakening.

No one told you that owning a business would be such a personal journey.

Your essence weaves itself into everything you do, from sharing your story, tackling fears around money and all the highs and lows of entrepreneurship.

So much so that your business feels like a rollercoaster, which was fun at the start, but you’d now like to get off ASAP!

The ups and downs are real, and normal.

One minute you love your business, you’re feeling aligned, receiving money and the next it’s descended into some kind of personal hell, an existential crisis and you’re questioning everything, especially yourself.

So it’s helpful to remember that you didn’t just start a business.

You’re not selling paper clips (unless that’s your jam), you’re also tuning into the deepest parts of yourself, your gifts and traumas, your highest potential and your ancestral karma.

It’s a lot.

And sometimes your business isn’t working like you thought it should, because you’re undergoing massive personal shifts.

Likely you’re challenging the patriarchy, your ancestry and upbringing, so cut yourself some slack.

Because if you’re open to the lesson, your business is one of your best teachers.

So take the pressure off and realise that time apart is good in any relationship and create some space between yourself and your business.

If you’re a personal development junkie it’s hard to imagine not working on yourself in some form, because it’s been your focus for so long as you try to race through your healing journey.

But a break really is as good as a rest and it doesn’t mean ‘shutting up shop’, as you’re always available to make money, but it’s ok to detach to have a peaceful coffee, go for a walk, see a friend and think about something else.

Your business will be there when you get back feeling refreshed.

You’ll both feel so much better for it.

Because you are separate entities.

Many women struggle with this because they haven’t fully birthed their business.

There’s so much to do to get started and you’ve likely been doing it all the whole time, while wearing all of your other hats so you’ve got stuck in your ‘creating’ energy.

It applies no matter what income level you’ve reached, especially if you’re a perfectionist because you won’t ever see your business as ‘finished’ until you feel you’ve got it absolutely right.

This is shooting yourself in the foot as your business will continue to grow and evolve, as you do. There is no finished product, so allow yourself to detach every day so you can sleep at night.

It’s important because if too much resentment builds you’re likely to want to burn it all down before it ever got a chance to truly fly, and elevate yourself to your true potential.

To keep the love flowing, because after all this is also your passion, it’s your detachment that prevents you from taking every result in your business too personally.

It’s not a personal attack if your post doesn’t get any likes, or if it feels like the algorithm doesn’t see you.

Again your business is showing you your deepest wounds when this happens.

It’s less about what’s going on out there, and more about managing your state through these transitions. Because the people who you see have ‘made it’ have also been through these stages, posts bombed, launches failed and tomorrow is always a new day.

So while your business is lovingly showing you the path of your greatest healing, don’t take your frustration out on it.

If the money isn’t flowing, get a bridge job, if you feel overwhelmed, get support.

Give yourself and your business the space to see the next step, the next tweak the next version.

Remember why you wanted to start your business, feel the passion and the inspiration and you’ll continue to fall in love with each other, which is how all the best relationships last.
