Gene Key 20 - Your busy work is not your best work

There’s a way to measure how successful you’ve been each day, no matter how busy you’ve found yourself.

It comes down to a simple question.

How much of the day do you remember?

Because our success is not marked by how busy we can be, but by how conscious we remain.

Ever have a day where you were so busy, yet barely remember any of it?

Observe yourself in that mode.

Fully on, completing lots of tasks but then at the end of it all; you feel as though you didn’t achieve anything.

Busy has become your identity, which you think will lead to your success.

But in the busy, and the overdoing, there is no space.

No room for support; because you can do it all yourself.

No room for creative thinking; which doesn’t matter as it doesn’t feel productive. No space for yourself; which is ok because you can handle it.

Busy keeps you in reactive mode; trying to keep all the plates spinning before one falls.

You think being seen as busy makes you more important, needed and maybe even respected.

Yet it also robs you of genuine connection, of collaboration and even co-creation.

Just because you are highly capable, doesn’t mean you need to run at full capacity all the time.

Success isn’t a race where you can’t afford a change in pace.

Success is considered, intentional and built over time.

Your best work has never come from doing more.

It’s come from the moments you gave yourself permission to slow down.

Want to go deeper with this? This is exactly the kind of work we do in Illuminated.
